Your Downloads folder is not backed up

Most backups, including OneDrive's folder backup, do not include the Downloads folder. Most of what is there can be downloaded again, but people often save photos and important documents there by accident.

You'll see this whenSavedSafe says your Downloads folder is "Not backed up".

Steps

  1. Open File Explorer and click Downloads.
  2. Move the photos, videos, and documents you want to keep into your Pictures or Documents folder.
  3. You can leave everything else. Installers and one-time downloads do not need a backup.
  4. Run SavedSafe again to make sure the problem is fixed.

Good to know

  • Photos saved from email or text messages often land in Downloads. Look for those first.
Done? Run SavedSafe again. When everything is protected, the report turns green.
