Windows 10 is no longer updated

Microsoft stopped free security updates for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. SavedSafe still works on Windows 10, but it is a good time to plan the next step, and to make sure your files have a safe copy before you change anything.

You'll see this whenSavedSafe shows a "Windows 10" note in the details section.

Steps

  1. Click the Start button, then Settings, then Update & Security, then Windows Update.
  2. If it offers a free upgrade to Windows 11, you can install it from there.
  3. If this computer cannot run Windows 11, plan for a newer one, and make sure your files have a safe copy before you switch.

Good to know

  • Moving to a new computer is one of the most common times people lose photos. Run SavedSafe on the old computer first.
Done? Run SavedSafe again. When everything is protected, the report turns green.
